Hang that Flyer!10 Oct
Lets talk about publicity channel.
If you guys frequent the MRT on your daily commute, you might sometimes stumbled upon the hanging flyers on the grab poles.
There are 3 things people will generally do when they seem them.
Option 1
Ignore it and think it is part of the train decoration.
Option 2
Take it, look at it and put it back. (Afraid that it’s not suppose to be taken and that they will get fine for it)
Option 3
Take it, look at it, and bring it home.
If you belong to the group of people in option 1 and 2, my recommendation to you is, “Yes, you can take it and you wont get fine, you might just find something interesting!”
In my opinion, the hanging flyer is a good publicity channel. As compared to the static advertisement board or advertising stickers found on the windows, the hanging flyers add a touch on interactivity to the whole advertising process.
Recently, I took one home (yes! Im option 3!) because I found it interesting.

This flyer is a promotion of a competition as part of the Speak Good English Campaign. The flyer is not over crowded with information and it’s straight to the point! (im pretty sure they had the option 2 people in their mind). Even without taking the flyer home, you would already know what to do. (i.e. go the www.stomp.com.sg for further details). It’s very well executed!
So the next time you are looking for a publicity channel, take a look at having your information on a hanging flyer. Execute your campaign well, and I believe you will meet your objective. Just remember, there’s 3 type of people in the train!
And to those of you who are afraid of this and afraid of that. Don’t be afraid, you can take it home FREE of charge. Yes, FREE. :]

P.S. Just a hint on what you can do. To solve the option 1 people, make your flyer bright and stand out to attract their attention and in an instant they are in the option 2 category. Next, make your information straightforward and bite size, print your web address visibly too so that they can remember it. Coz sometimes they do want to take it home but they feel shy coz afraid that all the other option 1 people will give them the stare. Pfft. Hope this helps!
