The Art of Effective Thinking16 Sep

Say what?!

Yes, thinking is an art form (like everything else, anything can be turn into an art form! hahaha)

Let me share with you today my personal take on effective thinking.

Why is thinking so important for events?

It is very very very important, specifically during the idea conceptualization stage. I’m sure as events planner we would like to exercise our overflowing creative needs. We would love to explore new ways to present an event. And we definitely want it to be impactful enough that the events will be a hit!

All this greatness begins with the almighty humble thinking process.

So how do you do yours?

While different people have different ways of doing this, let me share with you 3 ways I do mine!

The MRT ride

I love taking the MRT at around 10am or 11pm. The train is less crowded and it has an almost-surreal-moving-library-kinda-atmosphere. Have you ever experienced this before? I bet you have! Besides the quietness of the carriages, and the almost calming rustling of wheels on the train track you are also able to enjoy the scenery (which are almost always green, since we are a garden city).

And I truly believe this has an effect on our thinking process. I don’t know what’s the scientific term for this but I’m sure it has got to do with keeping our mine stimulated while doing work. You know, like listening to music while studying. This is sight seeing while thinking!

The Long Walks

Nadd and Me love to just walk and explore. If you haven’t already noticed, we are kinda random sometimes. Hahaha. But sometimes we walk for a purpose. We believe ideas and inspiration can come from anywhere and it does not specifically have to come from an events-oriented thing that we see. We have drawn ideas from looking at candles, what people are wearing and the shapes of building. Its not about where the idea comes from, its where you are bringing it to! :]

The Sitting Infront of the Computer Staring at a Blank Word Document

Sometimes, it helps to confine yourself in a room and it’s just between you and your trusty computer. I call this forced thinking session. Very effective if you have tight a deadline. If you have a wild and crazy imagination this will work best for you!

So yeap, that’s 3 of my ways to having a thinking session. Whats yours?

Do share them with me.

Till the next big idea!

Never stop thinking!
