& like santan to top off bubur pulut hitam, we got to watch it at The Arts House (at The Chamber)! My first time! To say that I was excited, would be an understatement!

I’ve seen pictures of The Chamber but have never really stepped foot inside.

I had to resist myself from touching every thing, haha! Too bad we couldn’t take a picture of the place. I think I would have gone snap crazy.

Anyway, Muka Buku was awesome!

It totally depicts the different facets of Facebooking (& I’m not just talking about the users). As an avid fan of Facebook, I guess the different satirical characters is a reflection of a part of myself that I never knew to exist until it’s blatantly displayed in front of my eyes.

We sat through 6 stories with Facebook as the affluent main character. There’s the ‘what could have been’, the ‘what’s going to be happening when you’re dead”, the story with all the ‘facebook-addicts’, the one with the poignant profile picture, the funeral and my favourite, Top Friends.

(In no particular order, the official titles are – Top Friends; Profile Picture; Could Have Been; Funeral Rights; Addiction; and Remains )

The antics of Facebook friends… sending bouquets & eggs to each other, shown in the most humorous way, you cannot help but laugh!

& felt sad for the woman who changed her profile picture to get the attention that she never got (I mean, really, how many of us narcissists, do that in real life, even if you hate to admit it!).

In every story, in every character, there is a connection with us & an understanding of how Facebook has inadvertently affect our present (& future) selfs. And in that sense, even with the metaphors & actions that were said and done, the whole play was simply close to our (facebooking) hearts.

[ Mukabuku was part of Causeway Exchange, a festival showcasing Malaysia's quirkiest & originals acts. The fesitval ended on 31 August 2010.  Look out for it next year! ]

Like SG Things To Do Today (a listing + concierge service) & Events Planning Sidekicks (a planning service for any type of event). & of course Events Sidekicks Youths (dedicated to all things youth + events).

Sometimes, while we try to give an equal amount of love to our these 3 ‘babies‘ of ours (you know, just like how parents do), we tend to sway & concentrate on one for just a brief moment of time.

But we still love them all the same.

So it’s no surprise then that during one of those brief moment of time, one of my friends (who’s been one of our Sidekicks too) asked me: Which One Do You Like The Most?

Gah! That’s like asking which hand do you like better, the right or left. Or asking what kind of ice-cream flavour you love the most – Chocolate or Caramel! How to choose!?

We love every part of everything & every event! There are so many likes that I think we cannot really pinpoint what we want to do the most.

One of the things that we really enjoy is Events Sidekicks Youth because it has 2 things we’re passionate about – Events Planning & Youths!

Of course, I have plenty more pictures to show you, but that will just flood this post! Still, the point is, I guess this is the most fulfilling out of the 3. It might not be immediately gratifying, but it’s just great that we’re able to impart a little bit of something-something to these youths!

And of course, another great thing about all 3 is we get to work with our Sidekicks.

So if you ask me Which One I Like The Most, I’ll just give you a shrug and tell you that it’s impossible to choose! But for now, I’m enjoying mixing with youths more !

Anyone can just google your name and find out what you’ve been up to, which restaurant you’ve just eaten at, who are your best friends, what kind of blog writer you are – and all this thanks to Facebook!

No one’s to blame for all this personal information out there. There is an undeniable a tinge of narcissism in all of us that delights in exhibiting ourselves & telling others how fantastic our lives are!

If you don’t believe me, let me just ask you this: What’s on your current profile picture? (I’m guessing it’s a fantabulous picture of yourself!)

There’s nothing wrong though – all of us are doing it anyway, hur hur!

I especially love reading peoples’ statuses. It’s so mish-meshed & personal that sometimes I cannot help but to read every one of them before erm, moving on to other serious stuff.

Also, one of the best features I feel, is the Events Pages. I mean, come on, aren’t you glad that you have so many options & places to go to every weekend? & not to mention the people you get to know who share the same interests as you! Building communities & cliques are easy too.

Especially for us planners! If you need people to come to your event – just invite! Need other sidekicks to help you out -  send a message! If  you need to tell others about what your event will have – share a picture!

This is extremely useful for us tech-savvy people who are on the Net 24-7. Recently, even teachers have sought out Facebook to reconnect with their students. Which is so cool – I wished I had that when I was schooling!

Today, what I really love about Facebook is – we can get on the spot YOG updates! From everyone! If your friends are volunteers, then you’ll get their perspectives! If you have friends who are teachers, then you get to see live updates of what’s going on behind the scenes!

If you’re in the Singapore Youth Olympic Games 2010 Page, then you’ll get live updates of what games are starting & what else is happening around town for YOG! Super Exciting!

Hey, it’s not everyday that this little red dot is suddenly open to worldwide attention & it’s not everyday that there’s so many things happening during these 2 weeks! More fun for us!

& of course, if you want to find out what else is happening for YOG, you definitely know where you can go!

On that note, here’s to more live updates, great profile pictures, Fab Facebook moments and re-connecting with more faces!

Hey guys, it’s been a while since I’ve updated what’s happening with MUDD & NADD.

This update brings good news!

While doing our usual rounds around Singapore looking for interesting finds and cool things to do, we visited IOLA!

Two days ago I bumped into my long lost army mate Afiq! A short update at the traffic light (I know, cliché right?) about what’s happening in our lives, I found out that he is running a shop at 16 Haji Lane.

And I was like, “What the hell?!” (in a good way of course).

And this lead me to visit his shop the next day. Cosy place to hang out and Nadd can attest to that. We spent a good 3 hours chatting and catching up and trying on the clothes (well at least I did! hehe)

IOLA Originals

If you have been following our adventures, I’m sure by now you’ve discovered that we love DIY-ing anything at any chance we get.  Why not, since DIY-ing is a great way to save money & add that customised touch to any event!

This time around, one of our recent projects was to decorate a children’s party according to a Dinosaur theme! & Go Dino-crazy we did!

To make sure there weren’t too many dinosaur stuff (because we don’t want to overkill the theme, yes?), we mostly used these extinct creatures as accessories.

Anyway, I must say, I enjoyed this project immensely (and not just because this involves cute kids) but it’s certainly fun to decorate, blow balloons & see the end product!

After that watching the kids Oooh-ing & Aah-ing and having fun with the balloons just made our Saturday!

Now we’re so looking forward to more (kid’s / anyone else for that matter ) parties! If you have a party that you need planned (or decorated), you know where to reach us!

Besides the fact that YOG is 58 DAYS AWAY!

And the World Cup 2010 created such buzz & hype before it actually happened (all because of $$ or the lack of – what’s new!).

And that Town is once again filled with roaming scenesters & not-so-cool hipster kids because of the School Holidays.

And maybe that Singapore Arts Festival was so lovely, when it ended, there was not much artsy stuff that filled our nights. 

Oh & the yummy Botak Jones have introduced new halal stalls called Botak’s Favourites  (we thought it would never happen).

The Great Singapore Sale is also here this month and that’s another reason to go walking, I feel! Except that nothing made for more exciting news then the one that happened on 16 June - Orcard Road was filled with  Teh-Tarik like concoction of all things yucky and turned into Orchard River for a day. Yes, it looks as horrible as it sounds.

That, while very exciting for us swakoo generation who have never experienced any kind of flood before (besides the longkang), is not exactly the highlight of my June.

Right now, at the top of my list  – one of the coolest highlight of this month is… Springing a Birthday Celebration Surprise on Mudd! (okay so it’s a half surprise but a surprise none-the-less). 

But still, to trick / surprise another planner is such an achievement. To trick Mudd (who believe me can sometimes do a Jedi Mind trick and read your mind) is even better!!   The thrill of planning & having a reunion of old friends and then seeing the happy contented faces of the birthday people is just priceless!  (and of course food & lots of chicken is such a blessing!).

And of course, what’s new with June is we have more Events Sidekicks Youths this month, yey!  June has gotten me all hyped up for the remaining days of the month!

And at the end of the gluttonous adventure you decided that you had enough for the time being and you want to dispose your tools of desire (AKA plates and utensils) only to discover in your epic horror, you can’t find the trash point!

So how now?!?!?!??!

Annoying isn’t it?

I’ve been to one such function recently. Not that I’m being nitpicky, but such situation will just create a lot of awkwardness. (Since the aim of EVERY event is to make your guest feel comfortable)

Imagine, YOU’ve just finish eating a whole LOT of food and you would like to dispose of the evidence but you can’t find the rubbish point. What do you do next?

In a civilize society you would find the nearest server/helper and explained your peculiarity and get them to help you locate that rubbish point.

In a semi-civilized society (sadly where I’m from), ignorant farts would just place it on the serving table. Yes! The serving table! (this will just create more awkwardness!)

Or if they could locate a rubbish bin (or something that looks like one) they would just place the rubbish next to it (if it was a close unit bin) or they would just pile it up (if it has overflowed)!

So planners, pleaseeeeee, set up that rubbish point! Here are some tips to get you going.

1.    Set your rubbish point near the serving area (putting a trash bag underneath the water dispenser is a no-no. Although many are practicing this, bottom line, it is just unhygienic!)

2.    Get a good size rubbish bin with a good size opening. Those that has always been originally around the function room/hotel/reception area (You know. Those that is already there before you came, before the place opens, the one that have always been there) are NOT mean for catering purposes. A shocker? Believe it.

3.    Have somebody to manage the bins. Nothing worsts that seeing an overflowing bin with chicken bones or laksa gravy dripping. Always double, triple, quadruple the trash bags in the bin before hand. This will make maintaining the bin easier. Just tie-grab-go. Easy! Repeat after me. Tie. Grab. Go!

4.    Finally, after you have tied, grabbed and go. You better go! Don’t leave the tied up bag beside the bin. Dispose it off properly. Don’t get me started on the need of knowing/having a centralize waste point.
